Our Purpose in Ministry

"St. Mark's is dedicated to the teaching of God's word, worshipping in the traditional Episcopal liturgy, welcoming others into our church family, and reaching out in loving ministry to God's children."

St. Mark's Church exists not for itself, but for its neighbors and for the world. Our ministry is both local and global. Locally we are people who worship God, build friendships, grow spiritually, and share resources. Throughout Gastonia we are involved in programs helping families and individuals in need. Globally through the National Episcopal Church and in partnership with Anglican churches around the world we spread the good news about Jesus Christ and work for social and economic justice.

Our purpose and actions grow out of what we believe. Our worship and life together equip us to do the work God is calling us to do. Here at St. Mark's we believe that knowing Jesus matters. We believe that deciding to be a Christian means something; and that together as the Church we can make a difference in the world.

We believe that the faith we share is visible through the ministry we share. Both in and outside the parish, we offer a variety of opportunities to give yourself away.
