Many of our members are involved in one or more of the following is a list of community ministries. If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of the ministries below please contact any member of the outreach committee.
Alcoholics Anonymous
St. Mark's provide space and support to Alcoholics Anonymous®. Currently meetings are held Monday evening in the parish hall. Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. As One Ministries
As One Ministries’ mission is to serve as a resource and referral agency and provide daytime shelter to Gaston County’s homeless adults, youth, and families moving them towards self-sufficiency. For more information please contact Fr. Shawn. More>
Crisis Assistance Ministry
Crisis Assistance Ministry (CAM) serves the community of Gaston County helping people meet their financial needs during times of crisis. CAM helps local people with a primary residence with rent or mortgage assistance, utilities, food, and prescription assistance. For more information please contact Lance Brenner.
First Things First
First Things First is making an impressive impact in our community by helping to reduce the huge human cost and dollar cost from divorce. Weekend workshops are available for couple who are engaged to be married. For more information please contact Bill Seabrook. More>
Gastonia Faith Network
The Gastonia Faith Network is an organization where community churches, care agencies, and local city officials meet to address the needs of our city. The mission is to both educate the community to the needs of the downtown area and to provide a respond to those needs. For more information please contact Bill Seabrook.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian based organization that uses volunteer labor to build low cost homes in partnership with those in need around the world. For more information please contact Greg Montgomery. More>
Interfaith Hospitality Network
The Interfaith Hospitality Network is a nationwide ministry that brings shelter, meals and support services to homeless families. Several times a year, St. Mark’s will host between 2 and 5 families in our parish for a period of one week. This ministry gives families a chance to graduate into a home of their own. Salvation Army Shelter
Through the Salvation Army, the members of St. Mark’s provide and serve dinners the second and fourth Tuesday of each month to approximately 125 homeless and needy residents of our community. For more information please contact Nan Allison. More>
With Friends
The mission of With Friends is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people ages 7-21 who are homeless, transient, at-risk, disadvantaged or in crisis. For more information please contact Tuga Adams. More>
